SARIA Executive Board member Nicolas Rottmann:

“The SAF project with TotalEnergies is a milestone for us”

In an effort to make aviation more climate-friendly, SARIA and the French multi-energy company TotalEnergies have concluded a strategic partnership to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from animal fats and used cooking oils. SARIA will supply these materials to the biorefinery TotalEnergies is building in Grandpuits (France), which is planned to commence operations in 2025.

The use of SAF is on the rise, and the impact from an environmental point of view is significant: Switching from fossil fuel to fuels made from sustainable feedstock can reduce carbon emissions by as much as 80 percent.

Nicolas Rottmann, member of the SARIA Executive Board and responsible for the cooperation with TotalEnergies, sees the project as a great opportunity and a major milestone for SARIA’s future development: “Investing in new technologies and business fields has always been part of SARIA’s success story. This has motivated us in the past to become a pioneer in the field of biofuels. And this motivates us today to enlarge our portfolio with sustainable aviation fuel – in a long-term partnership with TotalEnergies.”
